Sometimes I get so stuck searching for the "deep" things of scripture that I overlook the wonder of simple truths like "Jesus loves me." I try to delve into theological concepts with impressive labels, skipping over the simplicity of "God is great." And sometimes I bring these tendencies into conversations, attempting to discuss spiritual complexities without first establishing and appreciating the basics.I was reminded of this today by a precious four year old. He proudly pointed out a photo from his visit to an exhibit on the sinking of the Titanic.
"Isn't that amazing," I lectured, "They thought they had built a ship that God couldn't sink, but they were wrong. It only took a little bit of floating ice."
"No," he corrected, "It was a bird. A bird flew into the boat and the boat sank."
I was puzzled. "What makes you think that, buddy? The ship sank after it hit ice floating in the ocean."
He was very serious and very matter-of-fact when he declared, "The lady at the museum said that the boat sank because it ran into an icebird!"

Very True Rissa! And that is so cute! Iceburg. LOL. I have always been interested in the Titanic and studied about it at an early age. I learned alot of things at an early age because of the love of reading.

Recently I read the book "The Sinking of the Titanic" (from Vision Forum). It was fantastic to read something about the Titanic that hadn't been influenced by Hollywood's projections on the topic. I loved the book. Okay, I loved the pictures in it, too. :D
